Extended Absence!

So...if you're like me, you probably haven't even noticed I've been gone for a while from this blog...because who can keep up with herself/himself AND every blog they follow?!

Jake and I have had a crazy, but BLESSED, past few months! We have moved from where we were living and are moving again soon! We are closing on our first home next Friday (cue squeals of excitement)! I can't wait to show you all pictures and all of that good stuff, but I'm going to wait until we get settled in and then post some. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you will definitely see a few before I post about it.

Once we get moved again and things calm down, I will be back to blogging. Hopefully, I'll be able to post casually until that happens, too. Just not making any promises, but I'm ready to get back. I'm going to go Pinterest crazy once we get in the house! I've always said I just want to live somewhere that I can put a wreath on my front door and not have to worry that it will get jacked while I'm at work! Ha!

I hope you are all doing awesome, I can't wait to catch up!

Since I wasn't blogging around the holidays, I'll leave you with this adorable picture of my yorkie the night we went caroling. Is anyone else out there yorkie obsessed, too?!

So, if you've bought a house, what was your favorite room to decorate/your favorite part of the process? If not, what are you looking forward to the most?

GFC Blog Hop!

It's Tuesday again which means it's time for the GFC Blog Hop!

When I want to follow a blog the first thing I look for is GFC (Google Friend Connect), it's so easy and  nice to be able to go and see all of the blogs you follow in one spot. It's really a great tool to have.
One side note- Did you know you can follow through GFC using your Twitter Account? TRUE, it's definitely an option!

Ok, so let's get to the party, shall we?
RULES are simple:
1. Follow your host via GFC
The First link below
2. Follow your co-hosts via GFC
The Next 9 links below
3. Link up below using your main blog url not a specific post.
4. Make sure to visit some of the blogs in the link up and follow them via GFC
and if you want to leave them a comment, I'm sure they'd appreciate that as well.
5. Tweet about this blog hop
6. Share about this blog hop by grabbing a button and putting it on your sidebar!
*After 6 months of the waiting list to cohost being extra long, Melissa finally has paid cohost spots available! Email her if you're interested at melissa@thelifeofanotsoordinarywife.com

Hiya!

Hiya!

I am here to give you a little update with what's going on in my little world! Our prayers were answered and Jake has a new job! Last week was his first week and he absolutely LOVES it! It's so awesome to see a prayer that you have prayed for quite some time be answered.

Also, since the last time I posted, I cut my hair off. Here's the new length. I know it's not super short, but a pretty drastic change in my book.

I miss my long hair. As excited as I was to cut it all off, I definitely miss it. And I'm already growing it back out. Oh well, change is nice for now! :)

Yesterday was a favorite lady of mine's birthday and I want to wish her a happy birthday here too! Happy birthday, GG! I love you so much!

Now that things have remotely settled down for Jake and I, I am hoping to post more often. I've even slacked on painting my nails. That's gotta change stat!

Looking forward to being back more frequently! :) Hope you're having an awesome Thursday!

hello, there.

Yes, I realize I have been absent from my blog for a while. My life has been crazy and filled with decisions, trips, family and spending time with Jake. And I love all of those things. I have enjoyed my days without stressing about what to post.

I realized that I have been trying to grow this blog just to say that it's growing but I've gotten away from posting quality writing and began filling my posts with meaningless words just to say I posted that day.

So from now on, I may or may not post every day. If I have something to share, I will share it. Blogging became like that homework that you didn't want to do, so you put it off for as long as you can. That's not what it's supposed to be about. Blogging should be a fun and creative outlet! These words are coming easy because it's something I've thought about and something I feel is important. Dragging out meaningless words when you have nothing to say isn't a fun task by any means.

I know that writing quality posts will gain readership and leave me feeling much better than knowing I just got a ton of followers because they did what they were supposed to do by following me to link up. Don't get me wrong, I love link parties to interact with other bloggers and to find new blogs. I wouldn't have found a lot of my favorite blogs if it weren't for those. But it can't be all that I focus on.

I still want to be involved in the "blogging world" with box swaps, ornament swaps, etc. It's a fun way to interact with others and get to know them better. I want to get back to what blogging is about and have fun with it. I don't want to be so wrapped up in giveaways and following parties that I don't enjoy it anymore. I want to have time to read all of my favorite blogs and comment and get to know them better. And...it's gonna be awesome.

Cara Box Reveal!

Cara Box
Kaitlyn over at Wifessionals hosted a blogger swap. She decided to call it the Cara Box exchange. She paired up everyone who signed up and you had to send your partner a box in the mail with items that reflected the theme.

cara (car-rah) noun   :   beloved friend

My partner was Colby from over at Life As A Dixon. Colby got me the hook up with my first box! This month's box theme was Fall Favorites. Colby couldn't have picked better items for me! I absolutely loved everything!

Essie Polish in Don't Sweater It and Head Mistress - She knows me well! Cutest little bag of candy corn, too!

Love this! I definitely needed some fall decor!

Love this printable and the frame!

Looks great in my living room!
This was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again sometime! Don't forget to go check out Kaitlyn's blog, Wifessionals, she's awesome!

I haven't blogged for a few days because I was gone on a retreat this past weekend with our youth group! It was awesome and I'll be doing a recap soon. Jake and I have had big decisions with his job stuff and have been so busy with all of that. Hoping I have good news for you all soon! :)

Cray Cray

This week has been cray cray to say the least! I have about a million things running through my head at all times!

My mind going crazy caused me to have an embarrassing moment last night. While leading worship for the student ministry we help with, I jacked up the words to the fast song I was singing. I saw the kids laughing at me but I laughed it off myself and kept rolling. I don't think that's ever happened to me before, especially with the chord sheets in front of me with the words on it! It's all good in the hood, though!

Speaking of hood, the series for this month in the youth group we help with is called "Neighborhood."

It coincides with the series that our church is doing this month called "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" We have been encouraged to get out of our comfort zone and start conversations asking if someone knows Jesus and will be our neighbor in Heaven.

So, if you would like to know more about how we can be neighbors in heaven or what it means to accept Jesus, I'd love to chat with you about it! If we happen to not share the same beliefs, that's fine too. I'm glad we can still be blog friends and appreciate our differences! :)

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." -1 Peter 3:15
