Yes, I realize I have been absent from my blog for a while. My life has been crazy and filled with decisions, trips, family and spending time with Jake. And I love all of those things. I have enjoyed my days without stressing about what to post.
I realized that I have been trying to grow this blog just to say that it's growing but I've gotten away from posting quality writing and began filling my posts with meaningless words just to say I posted that day.
So from now on, I may or may not post every day. If I have something to share, I will share it. Blogging became like that homework that you didn't want to do, so you put it off for as long as you can. That's not what it's supposed to be about. Blogging should be a fun and creative outlet! These words are coming easy because it's something I've thought about and something I feel is important. Dragging out meaningless words when you have nothing to say isn't a fun task by any means.
I know that writing quality posts will gain readership and leave me feeling much better than knowing I just got a ton of followers because they did what they were supposed to do by following me to link up. Don't get me wrong, I love link parties to interact with other bloggers and to find new blogs. I wouldn't have found a lot of my favorite blogs if it weren't for those. But it can't be all that I focus on.
I still want to be involved in the "blogging world" with box swaps, ornament swaps, etc. It's a fun way to interact with others and get to know them better. I want to get back to what blogging is about and have fun with it. I don't want to be so wrapped up in giveaways and following parties that I don't enjoy it anymore. I want to have time to read all of my favorite blogs and comment and get to know them better. And...it's gonna be awesome.

Absolutely loved this!! What a great reminder!
I agree with you 100% sometimes i get the feeling that blogs is all about making them grow...i get lost in all the link partys i need to do and people i have to follow and itneract so my blog grows that at the end it isnt so fun anymore and i forget about blogging...and that should be the main reason for people to follow me, right?
so yeah, nice reminder to everyone so we don't loose it =)

Love this! Agree with you completely <3
Completely agree, such a great decision <3 It helps to not lose track of why we blog in the first place. I love seeing those who are passionate for blogging & write meaningful posts and what they want to write about (and that doesn't mean they post every day at all).
Love it! Good for you! :D<3
Love this. I think it is so important to actually ENJOY it. Otherwise, why do it? Excited to see what you post about :)

I agree. For a while I felt like I had no purpose blogging, but then I just had to remember that I do it because I love it. I don't do it to be popular or consume myself with what I am doing everyday! I love being interactive, that's the best part!
Best of luck to you!I hope I can get to know you better as well :).
so true. It is such a great reminder. thank you so much!

Just found your blog from your button on Robin's (the sunshine diarys) blog! Very cute design and everything. Your post is so true, its never fun writing just because you think you have too.
Excited to be your newest follower, girl! :)
Hi Alexis! I just found your blog on Nicole Marie. I totally agree with what you've written here on this post. I've discovered the same thing. Looking forward to following you and reading your thoughts! I love your sidebar photo, you have such a great smile!
totally agree! and i hate it when i start reading a blog that the person seems real on and then all the sudden it switches to all giveaways and/or sponsor posts because you can tell they're just trying to get the numbers up
it's really good that this is something that you think about! i've gotten in the habit of every time i sit down to blog and i just don't *feel* like it, i back away from the computer and go do something else! especially if you're in a place where this isn't your fulltime job, it's good to take things slow every once and while!
I totally understand! That's how I had been feeling for a while and when my life took a detour, I fell off the face of the bloggy planet. Glad to hear you want to do it because you like it rather than to gain followers :)
I SO agree with this! The parties and giveaways are fun at first, but once they became an obligation I decided to stop caring as much. My blog hasn't grown as quickly, but at least I don't have hours of homework every night now! Visiting you from the Crafty Ginger blog. I'm excited to start following you!
